The work is a centered geometric composition that seems to be set in motion around chromatic fields. It offers a distilled expression of the theory championed by Sonia Delaunay: color as a rhythmic driving force. The use of charcoal in concentric ovals intensifies this dynamic effect, creating a dialogue with the color planes and recalling the artist’s explorations of simultaneity and chromatic vibration.
This design was also chosen by Galerie Berggruen to announce the exhibition “Sonia Delaunay, Rythmes Couleurs”, produced with the editorial participation of Jacques Damase — author, curator, and a key figure in the wider promotion of her work.
Highly active in the field of the modern avant‑garde, Galerie Berggruen provided the ideal setting for the 1966 event dedicated to Sonia Delaunay, a major pioneer of abstraction.
