Maurice Denis brought to the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées a vision of great gentleness, where late symbolism met the nascent aesthetic of Art Deco. His panels unfolded a world of idealized female figures, muses of music and dance, bathed in soft colors and flowing lines.
Far removed from the sculptural vigor of Bourdelle, Maurice Denis instilled in the theater's sumptuous decor an atmosphere of calm and harmony, like a visual and poetic prelude to the performance.
