André LANSKOY 1902-1976

In 1921 André LANSKOY left Russia and arrived in Paris.
The La Licorne gallery exhibited him as early as 1923. At the 1924 Salon d’Automne the collector Wilhelm Uhde bought his entire output up to 1925. 
He then made a decisive encounter with the collector Roger Dutilleul (Dutilleul-Masurel Donation, Musée de Villeneuve-d’Ascq).
Dutilleul supported him throughout the period during which Galerie Carré handled his work, from 1928 to 1944.
In 1945 he met his fellow Russian artist Nicolas de Staël, and this was the beginning of a long friendship.

Their parallel explorations showed obvious affinities at that time, and one cannot deny the influence Lanskoy exerted then.
In 1948 Louis Carré gave him his first solo exhibition: “Works 1944–1948.”
Thereafter, this major representative of the School of Paris multiplied exhibitions in France and abroad.
