Painted after the years of abstract experimentation that marked part of his career, the work illustrates how Hélion reintroduced the figure without abandoning the formal economy he had inherited from abstraction.
The volumes are simplified, the color fields tightly controlled, and the composition rests on a discreet geometry: the figuration becomes synthetic, stripped of superfluous detail. This plastic concision gives the scene a clarity that stems as much from construction as from evocation.
